Why Council on Aging has Fundraisers . . .

Our fundraising efforts heighten the community awareness of the critical need for services for the many frail and homebound seniors. Fundraising efforts are necessary to draw down the grant match dollars that sustain these vital programs and it is through the cooperative spirit of concerned sponsorships that we succeed.

Walk for Meals on Wheels and Other Elder Services - Participate as a team, family or individual to benefit COA Meals on Wheels and other Elder Care Services. This is no minimum amount of money you need to raise to enter the event; however a $20.00 minimum donation per walker is requested to receive a t-shirt .

The Glenn and Connie Ritchey Community Service Award- The namesake award and first year honorees (2005), Glenn and Connie Ritchey, were the recipients for their longstanding civic, charitable and business leadership within Volusia County. Future annual awards will be presented as the “Glenn & Connie Ritchey Community Service Award”, and will be given to selected local community-minded leaders.

Council on Aging of Volusia County is a private not-for-profit agency partially funded by the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs with funds provided by the Community Care for the Elderly and the Older American's Act being administered by the Area Agency on Aging; ElderSource, the State of Florida Department of Children & Families, and some support from the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties and the County of Volusia. Council on Aging of Volusia County is a Registered 501 (c)(3) Corporation.

In judging a society on how it cares for its most vulnerable; from our perspective, the Council on Aging is greatly blessed, thanks to the support of so many people who share our mission. You all are our heroes!
